Statistical Study on the Rate of Eruption and the Attack of Dental Caries of the Maxillary Third Molar in Korean

Abstract

|
Author have conducted the following study for the evaluation of the sequence of eruption and attack of dental caries of the maxillary third molar in Korean. The total number of persons examined is 6,430 including 4,035 cases of male and 2,395 cases of female from the 17 to 60 years old. This taken from the anatomical diagnosis chart in Infirmary of College . of Dentistry, Seoul National University from Jan. 1963 to June 1965. The results was as. follows; 1) The eruption ratio of number persons examined was 59.06 per cent. 2) The DMF rate of maxillary third molar was 0.42 per cent. 3) Caries Index was 26.4 per cent. 4) Missing Index was 10.8 per cent. 5) :Filling Index was 4.9 per cent. 6) The eruption ratio of maxillary third molar is lower than mandibular third molar.
